two + months in Montana, part 3: Marshall Catch

Marshall Catch is my brother's band, which performs at all kinds of venues around the Valley. When they play an earlier evening show, like a coffee house or restaurant where kids are welcome, we are sure to be there. Zoralee knows right what to do when the music kicks in - start boogieing, often with a beverage in hand, even if she's the only one on the dance floor. Two and a half going on sixteen, for reals.

So! How's about a contest to pass the time (that is, the time until this baby is born - what other time is there)? Anybody want to venture a guess at the meaning of the name, Marshall Catch? Even if you're dead wrong (which you will be unless you have already been told), I'll draw a winner from among those who guess, and send you a free cd! How long the contest goes on is completely dependent upon when I get back to regular blogging due to either the presence of a calm baby or the continued delay of the aforementioned baby but me boring of card-playing, walks, and labor-inducing acupressure sessions with the fam (doubtful).

-- Football catch made famous by the movie "we are Marshall" from Marshall high school.

--a stream in Montana where it is noted to catch fabulous fish

--a friend named Marshall who is "quite the catch" for some lucky lady.

--an unfortunate Marshall acquiring some flu or disease.

That was my best stab at it... :)

Lori, do you even know the meaning of the name? I swear I've heard Luke give three or four different meanings to different people. I don't even know what the true meaning is!

Something to do with the Butterfield kid?

Hey...
I saw a Marshall amplifier in a photo at one time...did Luke do a play on words with that?

Jannell - - ha! You have completely embraced the spirit of The Guess.

Rachel - - of course I know. Come on.

Nancy - - you're a true wife of a musician to notice a Marshall amp!

Doh. That last comment was by me (Lori), of course. Shared computer glitch.

I'm going to guess that it has something to do with the Marshall Plan, the post-WWII initiative by the United States to rebuild Europe. Was all of this purely humanitarian? An act of American goodwill? Or was there a "catch"? A "Marshall Catch" perhaps???....eh?....Anyone with me here?...Anyone???.....Hello?

And the winner IS.......

Jon!

Jon, you have won yourself a copy of the Marshall Catch cd called "ad meliora." To where shall I mail it, since you're moving?

Thanks for playing along, everyone - five months ago.
